Please find below a breakdown of the estimated costs and process for a borehole installation project within the City of Johannesburg.
The project begins with a site survey at a cost of R3,500. This fee is refundable should the borehole drilling and installation project be awarded to HC Water. The survey includes a comprehensive on-site assessment, a technical evaluation of the property, and a detailed recommendation report identifying the most suitable drilling location as well as indicative depth and expected geological conditions.
A City of Johannesburg application fee of R1,200 is required for the registration and approval of the borehole. In addition, we offer a professional application assistance service at a cost of R2,500. This ensures that all required documentation is correctly compiled and submitted, and that the process is handled in line with municipal requirements to avoid delays or penalties.
The drilling phase is estimated at approximately R75,000 for a depth of around 60 meters. This includes mobilisation, drilling using air percussion methods, labour, and standard casing required to stabilise the borehole. Should site conditions require the use of a smaller rig due to limited access, an additional charge of R4,500 will apply. Final drilling costs may vary depending on actual ground conditions, depth reached, and casing requirements encountered during drilling.
Following successful drilling and testing, a filtration system is recommended at an estimated cost of R30,000. This is to ensure that the water is treated to a safe and usable standard for domestic or commercial use. The final specification and pricing of the filtration system are determined after laboratory water analysis, in line with SANS 241 guidelines.
Please note that all amounts provided are estimates based on average project costs within Gauteng and exclude VAT. Final pricing may vary depending on site-specific conditions and project requirements.
The estimated total project cost, based on the above, is approximately R112,200 excluding VAT. If a smaller rig is required, the estimated total would be approximately R116,700 excluding VAT.
Should you wish to proceed with the site survey or require any further information, please feel free to contact us.
