Hello! I'm Roman, a composer from Spain with a passion for counterpoint.
I love counterpoint, fugues, and canons. Here I share my exercises and compositions. My goal is not to write historically accurate music, but to use old contrapuntal techniques as a creative tool to develop my own style. For me, it’s like giving new life to a forgotten art—something similar to modern video games with retro graphics.
I also work as a stock music composer and producer (background music for ads, films, and video games). This counterpoint channel and my professional work constantly inspire each other.

Fun fact: The idea to compose Dulcius Ex Asperis came from a nonsense (like all my works). I was watching the movie The Lost City (2022) (which I only kept watching because it made me laugh) and at the end of the movie this proverb is mentioned. I thought it would be fun to compose a fugue with these profound lyrics that came out of the silliest movie.

I highly recommend this treatise on counterpoint and fugue by Cherubini, which has been digitized by Brian Bondari: wiki.bondari.com/cherubini_counterpoint_and_fugue:…
I also recommend this little guide to basso continuo by J.S. Bach, digitized by Norman Schmidt: musescore.com/user/12781611/scores/2814171
