The new 22% tax on interest on cash is now confirmed - I've done a video going over everything you need to know.

Watch the video and then let me know your thoughts.

Spoiler..I think it's a total waste of time, a stupid change that does nothing to help people understand investing better.

P.S.
Dear new PM and chancellor, cancel these changes and stop doing stupid things thanks!

Should I start a new portfolio for the new financial year - open a fresh Stocks and shares ISA and invest a more 'beginner' friendly amount of money like £100-200 a month (or something like £50 a week).

I might use Freetrade/ Lightyear as potential options?

***PERSONAL POST***

Can you help give a dog a loving home?

Rocky needs a new home. He's a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound. I am currently fostering him for 2 weeks while the dogs home gets electrical work done. Rocky is based in the Cheshire dogs home in Warrington.

See his details here - please contact the wonderful team there if you are interested.

Will Reducing the Cash ISA allowance to £12,000 (rumoured, but highly likely to be true now) from £20,000, change savers behaviour and encourage them to invest more?

Yet ANOTHER leak/ story about the reduction to the Cash ISA allowances. £12,000 seems to be the number we will get on Wednesday.

Personally I don't think this changes any savers behaviour at all, and it will put a negligible amount of money into the investing markets. We need much more financial education..which I will play my part in, and I hope you can all help me spread those messages far and wide over the next few years.

Going to make a poll about this in a second.

BREAKING NEWS

***The FSCS limit set at £85,000 will now be increased to £120,000***

The deposit protection scheme means customers can currently claim back the first £85,000 of their money. But from December that will rise to £120,000.

The move, confirmed by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) which supervises UK banks, marks the biggest increase since 2017 when the current limit was set.

Martyn Beauchamp, chief executive of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), said: "This rise ensures that consumers can feel confident their money is safe, from the very first penny up to £120,000."

Maybe an updated video is needed.
