Welcome to North of Normal — our life split between the wilds of Alaska and the forests of Michigan, where we build, explore, and create our lifestyle by hand. Former "Wilderness Way Alaska"
In Alaska, we live off-grid and off-script, hauling water, wood heat, and surviving in a dry cabin that keeps us humble. We hunt, fish, and forage wild foods for health and sustainability. Between arctic adventures and bucket baths, every day is an exercise in doing things the simple but not easy way.
In Michigan, we’re still hands-on, milling timber and using that wood to renovate our home. From power washing decks to trimming our own hair, we keep things practical, personal, and just a little bit wild.
We haul food and supplies between both homes, blending the best of each, Alaska’s wild harvests and Michigan’s hard work, into a self-sufficient lifestyle that’s anything but ordinary.
Two places. One way of life. Real, raw, and proudly North of Normal.
