I forgot to post about this earlier. But I was at Fanimecon again last weekend! I was in the northern plaza playing anime music on my keyboard for 14 hours.
Thanks to everyone who left tips, made song requests (why did so many people request My Soul, Your Beats??? I've never heard it), or just stopped by to chill with me for hours and hours into the evening. I had a lot of fun and I'm glad you enjoyed my performance. A bunch of y'all even recognized me from last year, or from the SF Cherry Blossom Festival, or from other stuff I've been to. It was dope to see you all again.
If you missed me this year, don't worry. I'll be back again next year (probably). Here, I'll start counting down the days for you. 365, 364, 363...

Me and some folks from Bay Area Anime Music will be running an anime jam session at MAGWest from 9-11 PM this Friday in the Jamspace. It'll be part concert, part live band karaoke, part open jam session. Come listen to us perform everyone's favorite anime bangers (God knows..., Re:Re:, A Cruel Angel's Thesis, etc.), sing along to Baka Mitai, and shred insane solos on Tank! from Cowboy Bebop with us.
I'll be there on Saturday too, just chilling (as long as I can get that parking discount). If you happen to see me around, say hi!
That wraps up day 2 (of 2) of busking at Fanimecon 2024 for me. To each and every one of the ridiculous number of attendees who listened to me perform: thank you. You're the reason I do any of this. You're awesome.
Shoutouts to all the people who asked me to play Golden Wind. My arm hurts now. Also shoutouts to the Lucy cosplayer who I played "I Really Wanna Stay At Your House" for. I was waiting for an Edgerunners fan to come by for like *an hour* so I could play that tune. I'm glad it paid off, and I'm very happy you enjoyed it

(the original version of this post was at 2 AM last night, I reposted in order to fit the text images in here, also to SHOUT OUT THE FOLKS I PLAYED WITH DURING MY TIME HERE!!! CHECK BELOW!!!!)
If you were at Fanimecon 2024 in San Jose today, and you saw this absurdly cool dude with long black hair in the convention center plaza playing anime music on a keyboard, THAT WAS ME!
Thanks to all the hundreds of attendees who tuned in, tipped, gave song requests, and complimented me. I love you all. You're the best. I've played Gurenge more times than I can count.
I will be there tomorrow, too. Well, I'll try. Let's hope I'm able to wake up on time. I'm very tired from today.
Thanks to my buddy Judecator for taking the first photo.
I played Music Diver, a drum-themed rhythm game, for the first time a couple days ago while on a trip out of town. On my first try ever, I cleared Yoasobi - "Into the Night" (Lv. 9 Extreme Difficulty) with an S-rank. No clue how I did it. I suppose it's because I'm a drummer.
Also pictured are some other decent scores I achieved. I shouldn't have missed that one hit on good-bye. Can't be too mad about it, though. They had FREEDOM DIVE as a track in this game too, which was a title I remember I saw in osu!. Pretty cool.
"Drummer Tries Music Diver". Video coming never
Unless... I find a Round One near me that has Music Diver...
Land of Fans and Music 5 Act 2 is out now! And I've got a track on it! Someone nominated Moonslayer for placement on the album and I obliged. So go check the album out and go thank the organizers.
In case you have no clue what any of this means: “Land of Fans and Music 5 Act 2” is an unofficial Homestuck music album that a bunch of fans (including me) and some former official Homestuck music team members contributed to. Homestuck is this old webcomic whose music I really like. This album is out on Bandcamp and has like a hundred tracks on it. It's also completely free. And Moonslayer, one of my favorite tunes I've ever arranged, is on it! It's track #78. So go give the album a listen. And give the organizers of the album their flowers. They worked hard to make this thing happen.
Fig. 1: The album cover. It's very pretty. Drawn by Circlejourney (circlejourney.net) Fig. 2: Track art for Moonslayer, drawn by Churro Lord (churro-lord.carrd.co). Sick as hell. RIP moon
Got a giant video on the way. Been busy for a while but it's coming down the line soon. It's like an hour+ long lmao. Can't wait to show y'all how much I've (not) improved
Holy cow! I've never had a video blow up like this. I didn't know there were so many osu! lovers out there. Thank you all for the views, kind words, encouragement, and tips. Rest assured, I will continue playing and updating you all on how I'm doing. Might take a while, though, because videos take forever to make, especially when you're doing all the work yourself. But I will be back.
In the meantime, I welcome all your comments, osu! tips, and feedback in the comments section below. I want to know your thoughts on what my next steps ought to be (combating wrist pain? sightreading? osu! skins? other gamemodes? buying a tablet?). Also, I kind of want to look into making beatmaps, so if you have anything to say about that, leave a comment. I'd greatly appreciate it.
P.S. this last wave of people who subscribed after watching this video pushed me over the 1K mark, which I never thought I'd pass, ever. Thanks again!
