Happy 33 years of elevator photography! On June 5, 1993, DieselDucy filmed his first elevator video at the Hilton Atlanta on Courtland St, then next he went to the Hyatt Regency and last the Marriott Marquis. The Westin Peachtree Plaza was not filmed until December 2000. Speaking of the Hilton, I have finally found a 2015 elevator video this late April which is went live a few weeks ago. It’s been a LONG time since I rode these famous elevators at the 3 famous Atlanta hotels. I have not rode these elevators in OVER a decade. I have not rode The Westin Peachtree Plaza elevators yet which I hope to go check out their elevator system soon. I hope my next big elevator adventure will be in Atlanta GA soon at these 4 famous downtown hotels!

Did you know: The world’s tallest and highest outdoor glass elevator is in Bailong, China recognized by Guinness World Records. It was installed by a German elevator manufacturer Rangger Elevator Company in 2002. The total height is at 1,070 ft. Elevator speed is about 984fpm (closer to 1,000fpm). The ride takes about 66 to 88 seconds.

1 year ago today, I went to New York NY and rode some elevators. I stayed at the WORLD FAMOUS Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square. We all know and love this hotel! These glass elevators are WORLD FAMOUS to the entire elevator community that we all know and love plus they are super fun to ride! The massive 36-story John Portman atrium is amazing! The Marriott Marquis was completed in 1985. I also rode some elevators at The Westin hotel a few blocks away and got a couple rides on those. I went to the Top of 30 Rock as well in the evening but unfortunately no video of those.

Sad news: Spirit Airlines has just ceased operations after two bankruptcies. Thankfully, I caught two different planes last year at Bradley International Airport (BDL/KBDL). I have two videos coming: One at 1pm ET, another tomorrow at 9am ET. Rest in peace Spirit 1992-2026.
