FACTS YOU NEVER KNEW

Photosynthesis is a natural process in which leaves use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce glucose and oxygen.

In this process, leaves use a pigment called chlorophyll, which absorbs sunlight. The energy from sunlight, along with water and carbon dioxide, helps in the formation of glucose. Oxygen, which is a byproduct, is released into the atmosphere.

Thus, photosynthesis not only serves as a source of food for plants but also helps maintain oxygen levels in our environment.

FACTS YOU NEVER KNEW

An animal cell is a eukaryotic cell that lacks a cell wall and chloroplasts but has a flexible plasma membrane. It contains a nucleus and various membrane-bound organelles that perform specific functions necessary for survival.

Key Features of Animal Cells:

1. Cell Membrane – A selectively permeable membrane that controls the entry and exit of substances.

2. Nucleus – Contains genetic material (DNA) and controls cell activities.

3. Cytoplasm – Gel-like substance where cell organelles are suspended.

4. Mitochondria – The powerhouse of the cell, generating energy (ATP).

5. Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)

Rough ER – Has ribosomes and helps in protein synthesis.

Smooth ER – Involved in lipid synthesis and detoxification.

6. Ribosomes – Responsible for protein synthesis.

7. Golgi Apparatus – Modifies, packages, and transports proteins and lipids.

8. Lysosomes – Contain digestive enzymes to break down waste and foreign substances.

9. Centrosome & Centrioles – Help in cell division (mitosis and meiosis).

10. Vacuoles – Small in animal cells, store nutrients and waste products.

Animal cells are found in all multicellular animals, including humans, and play a vital role in body functions and survival.
