You have to learn to be done with someone without carrying the weight.
It’s okay not to explain your “why”—that’s not everyone’s business.

You can say hello and goodbye… and nothing more.
You can wish them well… and still not be part of their journey.

I’ve learned to move away quietly. I don’t need noise to confirm what was done to me.

Some of us share our wins in hopes of encouraging others to believe that they can win too. What we don’t always realize is that acts of kindness and transparency can sometimes trigger the insecurities in others. Instead of celebrating with you and wishing you well, some quietly pray for your downfall.

After experiencing that enough times, you learn to move differently. Not out of arrogance, but out of wisdom. You stop sharing every high because you realize that not everyone celebrating with you truly wants to see you succeed.

So when people say, “People forget where they came from,” that isn’t always true. For some of us, we remember exactly where we came from. What we’ve learned is that helping others should never come at the expense of our peace, our well-being, or invite unnecessary warfare into our lives.

Growth teaches you that protecting your peace is not selfish—it’s necessary.
