Those Vegan Guys

How Those Vegan Guys Began — and What It’s Always Been About

Those Vegan Guys began not as a brand or a business, but as a heartfelt extension of two people’s journey into veganism — and a desire to share what they had learned in a real, relatable way.

✨ To share practical, accessible vegan content that helps people live compassionately and joyfully.
✨ To support anyone on a vegan journey — whether they’re just starting or well into it.
✨ To build a community where openness, kindness, and fun matter just as much as plant-based meals.

That’s what Those Vegan Guys have always been about — and that’s what continues to inspire them today.

To whom it may concern,

We have been purchasing, consuming and thoroughly enjoying your products for many years. We have featured them on our YouTube channel on many shopping videos at Wing Yip in Manchester and on many of our regular meals vlogs and livestreams. Although the products we bought were not clearly marked as vegan (only vegetarian) they were vegan by ingredient and therefore enjoyed by thousands (at least) of vegans across the UK.

On Friday 10th July 2026 we went to restock our items at Wing Yip and made another video whilst we were there, confidently picking up the satay sticks and breaded drumsticks we have always bought. Thank goodness we have very vigilant viewers who noticed what we hadn't, that you have now added 'egg white powder' to these and probably other items.

This begs the question, why?

They were absolutely fine just the way they were and were suitable for vegetarians and vegans, proving a popular item amongst vegans.

Now that word is getting out about your allergen addition without printing 'NEW RECIPE' on the pack, many vegans are very disappointed and this is gaining momentum around the internet.
eg: www.reddit.com/r/veganuk/comments/1s4mvvm/one_of_m…

Once again, as a loyal customer for so many years we have to ask why?

Is it a cost saving move?

Why haven't you added 'NEW RECIPE' to your packaging so that those who have been loyal customers for so many years and therefore feel that they don't need to check the ingredients might do just that, CHECK? As the reddit thread linked shows, some have been caught out.

Will you consider a change back to the original recipe without the 'egg white powder' so that your vegan customer base can happily return, or should we all just say goodbye to your company for good?

Enquiring minds would love to know.

Sincerely

Paul & Jason

Those Vegan Guys

Hello loves,

We said we were going to do a LIVE this Saturday to make up for missing last week whilst at ROOTED. Alas, what with work commitments, lingering exhaustion from 'life' and Jason currently having shingles for the second time in his life, we think it best to take one more week off and return next Saturday 11th July for our mukbang and then we'll be back on the ball from there.

I'll still be doing my 'daily things' and of course our meals vlog will be up on Tuesday.

Thanks for always understanding.

We love ya. x

Hiya loves. Alas we are unable to do a live this evening due to being in a field performing with The Vegan Queens. We'll be going live next Saturday to get back on track and of course we'll be uploading our meals vlog on Tuesday. Much love. X

For those of you who have ever wondered why the box is always on a chair in the background of our meals vlogs, this is why. It belongs to Isis, our fur daughter, named after the Eqyptian goddess of motherhood, magic, healing, and fertility.

It is filled with toys that she sometimes plays with, and is also a great spot to get her back rubbed or face scrungled.

This was her after a few back rubs on the stairs when we got back from beck Hall.

Those Vegan Guys

We've always been fully open and honest on our Facebook page and on our channel. A few times over the past few years we've reached out to our community to ask for help, to get the drone (for the channel), to get a new PC (for the channel), and more, and you've always helped us and we couldn't be more grateful for that.

Now and again, this post prompted by a recent one, we get someone full of ASSumptions posting angry and hate filled diatribes full of nonsense.

A recent comment on Facebook, poster now blocked and comment deleted, was accusing us of being grifters who are bringing in so much money, and calling all of you who have graciously helped us when we've asked, suckers! We were called out for going to the cinema after asking for help!

My most recent plea was actually for support in general, buying my book, which gives me around a pound each sale, buying Jason's music, which brings in around a pound each sale, buying our merch, which gives us between 1 and 3 pounds each sale.

Some of you beautiful people sent us donations via PayPal which we were/are so grateful for, and a few of you 'specified' that we should treat ourselves. So we spent £14 on cinema tickets to see a movie we really wanted to see on the big screen. Such grifters!

I needed to do this post today, not only for today but so that I have something to point to when these 'idiots' reveal themselves.

The image below is from YouTube today, as it clearly shows we have an expected £295.03 income from YouTube this month which is about average and includes channel memberships, super chats, super stickers, and any and all 'income' from our channel.

That particular income stream pays for all we need to run our channel well.

Tubebuddy, Epidemic Sounds, Streamyard, High speed internet, PO Box, Web hosting and more are ALL monthly subscriptions essential to the running of the channel. In total it all amounts to around £250 per month outgoings, channel specific. When we do a range of shopping vlogs we have to factor in fuel and car maintenance, buying products to taste test & review. I could go on, I won't.

Outside of YouTube, with Jason's work and my many months on only carers allowance for taking care of mum full-time, we bring in just over £1,500 per month. Our rent alone is £800 per month.

Hopefully I will be at a point where I'm able to work again as a Carer/PA in the not too distant future, but that isn't right now. The last 19 months have drained me significantly and if I can't give my best as a Carer/PA then I shouldn't do it, so right now, I'm not.

We are far from 'rolling in it', and some months we just about get by.

Running the channel and doing all we do is core to who we are, wanting to help, inspire, inform and even influence people to adopt and maintain a down-to-earth vegan lifestyle for the animals!

YouTube is not and never has been a fully reliable income stream, that isn't why we do it. It never has been. We plough most of it right back into it, and always have.

Our ebook is FREE, and always has been.

The emails and messages we receive in abundance from people thanking us for recipes, ideas, inspiration and even that last push they needed towards veganism are the fuel that keeps us going.

Always will.

Sometimes we ask for help, because we need it!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thanks to ALL of you who have helped us when we've asked.

I've only posted all this because if one person is posting it, then more are thinking it, and clarity is important.

For the animals and for YOU, always.

Make your own doner kebab meat.

After finding ‪@86eats74‬ fabulous Deli Turkey recipe and using it for several years, about a year (or a little more) ago I tried making my own Doner Kebab Meat using the building blocks from that recipe. I had a couple of almosts before I got there.
If you've ever had a penchant for kebab meat like you've maybe had in the past (especially here in the uk) after a night out. This is it.

Doner Kebab Style 'Meat'
Pre-heat oven to 180 (UK) 350 (USA)
450g block of firm tofu (I used Tofoo XL)
1 cup vital wheat gluten
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup of nooch (nutritional yeast)
2 TBS Tapioca/Corn Starch
2 tsp Onion powder
2 tsp Garlic powder
1/2 TBS Sesame oil
1 & 1/2 TBS Oil (I use extra virgin olive)
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Oregano
2 tsp Dark Miso
1 tsp Cumin
1 tsp Coriander
1 tsp Sumac
1/2 to 1 tsp Dried Mint
1 TBS Liquid Smoke
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
2 tsp Sugar
1 TBS Henderson's Relish or Dark Soy
1 to 3 tsp of red pepper flakes/chilli flakes (3 for us)
*TBS = Tablespoon. tsp = Teaspoon
Crumble your tofu into a food processor then add the rest of the ingredients and process well until it forms a dough like consistency.
Take out and use your hands to knead for a short while then shape into a large sausage. Wrap in foil.
Place into the pre-heated oven for 30 minutes, then open the foil and cook for a further 30 to 45 minutes.
Take out of the oven and allow to cool naturally, wrapped back in the foil. When cooled, put it in the fridge, still wrapped in foil, for 24 hours.
Take out of the fridge and slice (use a mandolin if you have one), you can then freeze it in portions or keep in the fridge and use within a week to ten days.
