🚂 Look what the kids dug up! 🚂
The kids were doing a clean-up job and brought me this absolute beauty of a find: an authentic, vintage CNR (Canadian National Railways) four-way railroad switch lamp!

You can see the original mounting bracket on the bottom left that used to slide right onto the switch stand spindle, and it still has that perfect, authentic patina.

What makes this one really unique is the lens configuration. Instead of the usual two greens and two reds, this one has three green lenses and one red lens. On the railroad, this specific setup was typically used for derails or safety switches protecting a main line. It would show green from three sides when the track was clear, but turn that single red lens toward an oncoming train when the derail was applied.

It is a fantastic piece of full-scale Canadian rail history to add to the room!

What do you guys think? Should I leave it exactly as-is with all that original history on it, or give it a gentle clean-up? Let me know in the comments if you have any old switch lamps in your collection! 👇

A broken coupler sends railcars into a runaway until they crash.Disaster strikes the layout! A massive derailment inside Sparky107107's helix has traffic completely blocked. Luckily, Sparky's fire station and fleet of fire trucks are right there on the layout to handle the initial emergency, but the rails are a mess.

It's time to bring out the heavy equipment. I am officially asking everyone in the community to assemble your best wreck trains and join the #wrecktrainchallenge. Show us your cranes, crew cars, and work consist ready to hit the high iron!

After 2 years, I put the shelf layout up. Came down when I moved the big layout to record easier. Never went back up. It is getting a remodel. Blunami/DC operations in the fall.
