list of cell organelles

1. *Cell Membrane:* A protective barrier that surrounds the cell, controlling what enters and exits the cell.

2. *Nucleus:* The control center of the cell that contains genetic material (DNA) and regulates cell activities like growth, metabolism, and reproduction.

3. *Cytoplasm:* A jelly-like substance that fills the cell and holds organelles in place. It's involved in various cellular processes.

4. *Mitochondria:* Powerhouses of the cell where cellular respiration occurs, producing energy (ATP) from nutrients.

5. *Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER):* A network of membranes involved in protein and lipid synthesis. Rough ER has ribosomes attached and is involved in protein synthesis, while smooth ER is involved in lipid metabolism.

6. *Golgi Apparatus:* Processes, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids into vesicles for transport within or outside the cell.

7. *Ribosomes:* Sites of protein synthesis where amino acids are assembled into proteins based on instructions from RNA.

8. *Lysosomes:* Contain digestive enzymes to break down waste materials, foreign invaders, and old cell components.

9. *Vacuoles:* Storage sacs for water, nutrients, and waste products. In plant cells, large central vacuoles help maintain cell turgidity.

10. *Chloroplasts:* Found in plant cells and some protists, they conduct photosynthesis, converting sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen.

11. *Cytoskeleton:* A network of protein filaments (like microtubules, microfilaments, and intermediate filaments) that maintain cell shape, support organelles, and facilitate cell movement.

12. *Centrioles (in animal cells):* Aid in cell division (mitosis) by organizing microtubules to form the spindle apparatus.

13. *Cell Wall (in plant cells):* Provides structural support and protection, composed mainly of cellulose.

These organelles work together to ensure the proper functioning and survival of the cell.
