Tendo Achillis rupture is one of the most common tendon ruptures to happen in the lower limb. Boys are more affected compared to girls probably due to higher incidence of playing. These injuries occur due to hyper planter flexion and mostly after poor warm up.
Diagnosis accurately is the key. Usually simple clinical examination is sufficient. Imaging only required to confirm and see the grade of retraction.
Various treatment options are available based on the grade of tear.
This 40 year old lady was treated by Primary Repair using Krakow Stitches to attain full function.
