The exodus was so much greater than what we see in the movies. Before it all started, the Egyptians murdered children by throwing them into the Nile, that were avenged later on, magnificently. A thousand brave and strong Egyptian soldiers for each child were slain in the Red Sea. The book of Jubilees (48:14) tells us that a million Egyptians were slain that day...
This fact led me to...Sirach 16:3: Trust not thou in their life, neither respect their multitude: for ONE THAT IS JUST is better than A THOUSAND; and better it is to die without children, than to have them that are unholy.
There are many more details "hidden" in extra biblical books that make the exodus narrative clearer and even more exciting to read. e.g. Did you know that when the sea parted, a straight path of grass was there for the animals to feed on? (Book of Wisdom 19:7-8)
