It begins in an old attic in Lyngen, Northern Norway.
A house where people once came from far away to seek help from a man many believed carried a special gift.

But the song is really about something else.

It is about how a gift can change its form.
How something that lived in one generation can continue in another — not in the same way, but in a way that is just as meaningful.

Some people heal with their hands.
Others do it simply by being who they are.

This song was created as a tribute to my best friend, my chosen little sister, and a person who has meant so much to both me and my family.

The Women Who Came Across the Fjord | Nordic Tales

In the 1600s, stories were told of women who crossed fjords and seas to gather beneath the Northern Lights on Tromsøya.

Some called them witches.

Others believed they were wise women who understood nature, the sea, the weather, and everything that grew between the mountains.

This story is inspired by old legends, Northern Norwegian storytelling traditions, and my own imagination. It tells of the women who came across the fjord, the child born beside the fire beneath the Northern Lights, and a legacy that still lives on in the women of the North today.

🎵 This story is accompanied by a song of the same title. Together, the story and the song form two parts of the same tale.

The Women Who Came Across the Fjord is part of Nordic Tales – stories, songs, and legends inspired by the nature, culture, history, and identity of Northern Norway.
