As the MegalithHunter, I explore my fascination with the megalith builders. These prehistoric ancients are in many ways still a mystery to us. To get a better understanding of them, I also look at what came before and what came after, as well as researching contemporary cultures who didn't build megalithic monuments at all! If you love learning about the ancient past as much as I do, join me as I explore sites and look at the research into them.

I have an M.A. in Mediterranean Studies so I'm not an archaeologist or a historian but I do use my qualifications to present information using academic sources only. These are noted in the description of each video. The goals of this channel are: to educate, to entertain and to elucidate. Let's have some fun. Join the live chats during my premieres and feel free to start some conversations in the comments. Enjoy! Laura

Today I visited Villa Adriana near Tivoli east of Rome. I've been meaning to get there for a long time but every time I'm in Rome I get a bit busy. It was absolutely incredible! This one post cannot possibly share how amazing the archaeological park is.

There are the remains of around thirty buildings over an extensive area, and a fair bit hasn't been excavated yet - so you can imagine just how vast this place is. It wasn't that busy. Plenty of parking, no queues (like Pompeii or any of the sites in central Rome) - and I'm shocked because it should be more popular!

I fully recommend a visit to Villa Adriana, and also Parco archeologico di
Ostia Antica which I visited last year and was also so impressive.

I stayed in Gozo over the weekend and spent some time at the Ġgantija Archaeological Park which is the site of two megalithic temples, and at the Ġnien Ta' Blankas, an olive grove with ancient 'cart ruts.'

Ġgantija was really busy so I didn't get many pictures as I was trying to avoid having people in them 😂 Perhaps it's time for another video on Ġgantija? My last one was before I improved my sound quality (which I know is still not perfect, working on it...)

Here is a link to the last video I did on the Maltese cart ruts: https://youtu.be/Kxx2Su0TiPw

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone 😃

Clovis First?

Last week a new paper came out which challenges the dating of the pre-Clovis Monte Verde II site in Chile. This is obviously huge news. Here's a link to the paper:

My friend ⁨@davidianhowe⁩ has created a video with a useful summary of the research and an interview with lead author Dr. Todd Surovell, professor of anthropology at the University of Wyoming.

If you're interested in the peopling of the Americas then this is a brilliant video.

In other news, I'm filming later so expect something from me on Upper Palaeolithic 'proto-writing' tomorrow :)

Happy New Year everyone!

I try to always post community messages with some photos so here are a few more from my trip to Ostia Antica back in September.

Lots of new features have appeared in YouTube so my 2026 New Year's resolution is to use a few more of them, especially collabs with other fantastic YT friends.

None of it is possible without views so thank you to those of you who watch, comment, moderate, support and send ideas.

This year some high points were ‪@HistoryWithKayleigh‬ and ‪@traveldan1‬ visiting (not together lol) and I appeared on ‪@smitinathan‬ 's new podcast and got to chat on one of ‪@FlintDibble‬'s livestreams. As usual I have to thank Mike at ‪@MindEscapePodcast‬ for being a tremendous support in my content journey.

I would also like to shout out Travel Dan's second channel ‪@AviationMuseumsoftheWorld‬ and Mike's second channel ‪@MastersofRhetoric‬ Great projects!!!

Wishing you all a wonderful and healthy 2026. I try not to focus too hard on the whole year, but on having beautiful little moments within it.

Hello everyone :)

Just got back from the archaeological park of Ostia Antica, the ancient port of Rome. A really impressive site. Here are a few photos including a bath complex, a mithraeum and a theatre. I have been to Rome many times but had never visited this site so was amazed at how much of it survives. It's very extensive and reminds me of Pompeii.

New videos are in the works including some shorts. The next video will be on the expansion of farming in Neolithic Europe. If there are any topics you are interested in, let me know. Don't forget public posting is now enabled in my community so if you want to share some articles or other comments on history-related subjects go for it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄 AND A HAPPY SOLSTICE! ☀️

For those of you that celebrate at this time of year, I hope you have a wonderful festive period! I visited the Tarxien Temples in Malta for the gazillionth time last week because I never get bored of them so here are a few photographs :)

NEW video going out later (7.45pm CET) which is mostly on the Amazon. I hope to see you in the live chat! Probably the last one before 2024 but since I have a couple of other scripts underway it might not be :)

➡️ What ANCIENT EARTHWORKS Are Hiding In The AMAZON? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWVA5...

My friend Mike over at the ‪@MindEscapePodcast‬ filmed this really interesting interview on the Sphinx recently. I had never heard of this hypothesis before. If Ancient Egypt is your thing then take a look and let me know what you think!

What a year it has been! From pregnancy complications that nearly killed me...twice, to meeting some lovely people from the megalith/travel YouTube world, it's been quite the ride. Celebrating Christmas with my baby daughter is the absolute best :)

In Malta this year I met up for the first time with Hugh of ‪@MegalithomaniaUK‬ fame, Jj of ‪@megalithicmaiden‬ and Lily from ‪@travelusiontours‬. I love meeting people that have a passion for the ancient world and work so hard on the subject.

I also had my good friend ‪@HistoryWithKayleigh‬ pop into town for a few days which was great fun!

If you have a few minutes (10) spare at this busy time of year I'll see you in the live chat. If not have a wonderful time wherever you are.
