Growing bonsai aims to provide clear information on growing bonsai. It is based on my work on my trees and the work I do for others. Some videos might cover more basic stuff and others focus on a little more advanced work. I cover tips and tricks on growing bonsai.
Follow me through the seasons. Growing bonsai is my hobby and passion. Making video's less so. So bear with me if I get busy with trees and do not post a video for a while :). Me, that is Jelle Ferwerda. I spend a good amount of time on bonsai, and am in the process of becoming a nippon-bonsai association recognized bonsai teacher, and will then start hosting workshops and give courses.

Today at "tuinland Wilp" the Bonsai Vereniging Apeldoorn will have a bonsai show. They asked me to come and judge the trees, as well as do a live styling of a young bonsai this afternoon. I picked this shrub, as I find cheap material conversions are always so inspiring.

For helping out with workshops for the club, Bonsai Overijssel gave me a steel plague featuring my "logo". now nicely rusted it is ready to serve as backdrop in videos. If I do not permanently allocate a spot in my bonsai garden, that is :)

Winter has shown its face the last couple of weeks.
All my trees are frozen solid. My mediteranean species are in a shed where there are less temperature spikes. All else.. Sheltered from wind and direct sun.
Waiting for the meltdown.
Woke up to -5C/23F. Overnight -11C/12F forecast.
Guess I am not wiring anything this weekend, unless I thaw one out in a warm workspace for some hours; Next week the frost is forecast to be gone so I would not need additional protection afterwards.
