Do you pay rent to your parents to save TAX on the HRA ?

It is legal and absolutely fine, but many people pay rent to their MOM to SAVE TAXES whereas the house property is registered in FATHER'S name.

In such cases tax cannot be saved on rent paid to Mom, due to clubbing provisions of the Income Tax Act.

This is due to PM Modi's appeal to people to buy Khadi in "Mann ki Baat" on 25 Sep 2022. Since, 2014 the government has been encouraging in various national and international forums to buy Khadi and Village Industries products to promote the sector.
