Winter Woods Studio

Art that follows curiosity, not formulas 🌲

Welcome to Winter Woods Studio, my little art space in the Northwoods. I’m Amy, an artist inspired by wild places, quiet moments, and the human experience. I share studio vlogs, painting sessions, sketching, and art supply explorations across charcoal, watercolor, mixed media, oil, and acrylic. These videos document my evolving creative practice. I also host a deeper creative community on Patreon called The Wild Brush Circle.

💌 I Finally Did It... My Monthly Mail Club Is Here! 🌿

I've been quietly building something over the past few months, and today I'm so excited to finally share it with you!

Today I'm opening enrollment for Birds, Bugs, Botanicals, & Beasts, my brand new monthly nature Mail Club.

Each month I'll send a beautifully illustrated letter sharing seasonal sketches, observations, and stories from my sketchbook, along with an exclusive art print or postcard and a changing collection of paper treasures inspired by the season. Think stickers, bookmarks, recipe cards, sketchbook prompts, nature activities, and other little surprises.

My hope is that each mailing encourages us to slow down, look up, and rediscover the beauty waiting just beyond our door.

🌿 Enrollment for the very first August mailing is now open, and you'll need to join by July 31 to receive it!

If you'd like to learn more or join the Mail Club, simply visit WinterWoodsStudio.com and click "Join the Club!"

Slow down. Look up. Wonder awaits! 🌿💛

Poll Time! ✨ Help Me Choose the First Art Workshop!

I wanted to share a little update with you and also bring you into what I’m working on next! I had been filming a set of more structured classes over the past few weeks, and somewhere along the way I lost part of the footage. Enough that it would mean going back and re-filming a large portion of it...

I sat with that for a bit, and instead of forcing myself to rebuild it the same way, something actually shifted for me. The more I thought about it, the more I realized I was starting to feel excited about a different direction.

Rather than creating larger, more formal classes right now, I’m going to move into a series of smaller, more relaxed workshop-style sessions. These will be simple, real-time projects where we sit down together and make something from start to finish. Less structure, less pressure, and much closer to how I actually work in the studio 🎨

It feels lighter. And honestly, a lot more like something I want to make.

They’ll also be more accessible, around $35 rather than a full class format, which feels like a better fit for this kind of experience 💛

Before I start filming, I thought it would be fun to get your input on what you’d most enjoy seeing as I move into this next phase.

What would you most like to see in an upcoming workshop? 🌱

1. Oil Pastels Made Simple (a calm, beginner-friendly session)

2. Setting Up for Plein Air Sketching + a quick outdoor sketch

3. Watercolor Birds Made Simple (a start-to-finish, real-time session)

4. Loose, Playful Acrylic Painting (a simple, colorful session)

I’ll likely explore several of these over time, but I’d love to hear what feels the most interesting to you right now! 🌲✨

Sending creativity sparkles your way!

I made you something… and I’m so excited to finally share it 🤍

I created a free 15-page ebook with a MASTER LIST of my all-time favorite art supplies, along with thoughtful prompts, ideas for how to use them, and gentle ways to enjoy the supplies you already have.

It was a lot of work (in the best way), and I poured so much into it.

You can download it for free when you join my email newsletter here:
www.winterwoodsstudio.com/subscribe

I’m also planning to start sending a cozy, once-a-month letter from the studio… sharing what I’m working on, supplies I’m loving, little life things, recipes, books, movies and more.

I hope it feels like a quiet, creative space you can come back to!

🤍 Two cozy December Patreon videos are live 🤍

I wanted to share a little peek at what I’ve been working on over on Patreon this month. December has been a very full season for me, and Patreon has become the place where I can share more quietly, honestly, and in depth. www.patreon.com/winterwoodsstudio

✨ Winter Art Book Haul (Art Club and up)
I share the art books that are deeply inspiring my winter painting retreat right now, including artists like Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Joan Eardley, Van Gogh, and Emily Carr. We talk about how I’m studying these artists, what I’m pulling from their work emotionally and visually, and how they’re influencing the direction my paintings are taking this winter.

🤍 Exclusive Studio Vlog + Sketching Session (Studio Circle and up)
This is a slower, more personal studio vlog where I talk honestly about life lately, feeling overwhelmed, my mom’s surgery, and how art helps me process everything. We spend time in the studio doing charcoal sketches, talking about materials, and beginning an underpainting for an oil painting. This is the kind of behind-the-scenes content I don’t share here on YouTube.

If you’ve been curious about joining or upgrading on Patreon, December is a really good snapshot of what lives there. Art Club focuses on inspiration and creative direction, while Studio Circle is where I share the deeper, quieter, and more personal side of my art practice.

Thank you so much for being here and supporting my work in any way you can. I’m wishing you a gentle, creative December and hope to see you over on Patreon 🤍✨

🌿 Hi friends, I’ve been gently shifting my channel into a new season — leaning more into cozy, cinematic storytelling alongside the art, but I am not sure if you guys are liking it. I’d love to hear from you! What kinds of videos do you find yourself most excited to watch here? Your feedback really helps me shape the direction of this space. 💛✨ As always, comments and ideas are appreciated!

🍂 Something new is blooming…
I’ve been quietly working on a big September change for my Patreon — something centered on creating, reflecting, and growing through art. 🌿🎨 It’s a little like taking a walk through the woods with your sketchbook, where you can slow down, notice the details, and let your creativity feel cared for.

I can’t wait to share more soon… but for now, here’s a little peek at the mood I’m carrying into this next chapter. 💛

I’ve been brainstorming some new ways we can connect outside of YouTube, and I’d love to hear what excites you most.

🎨 A live paint-along (with replay for those who can’t make it live)

☕ A cozy “lunch break” livestream chat — just hanging out and catching up

🖌️ Behind-the-scenes studio tour + Q&A session

📚 Monthly creative inspiration and prompt collection

Also, let mw know if you are already a Patron or would like to like to join soon! 💛

Your votes help me decide what to create next — and if you’d like to see more of my art process, behind-the-scenes moments, and extra inspiration, you can find all of that on my Patreon: patreon.com/WinterWoodsStudio 🌟
