πŸŽ–οΈ December 16, 1944. 18 Americans. 500 Nazi paratroopers.
Most people have never heard this story.
A 20-year-old lieutenant named Lyle Bouck Jr. was given one simple order:
Watch the line. Don't engage.
He watched 500 elite German paratroopers march toward him through the snow.
He had 18 men.
No artillery. No backup. No way out.
And then he gave the order to fire. πŸ”₯

What happened next lasted an entire day.
Wave after wave of German assaults β€” all stopped cold by 18 Americans shivering in frozen foxholes they called their "ice-boxes."
Every hour they held bought time for the rest of the US Army to regroup.
Hitler's entire northern advance was grinding to a halt…
Because of 18 men on a ridge.

⚑ When the Germans finally realized they were fighting a single platoon β€” they were furious.
By nightfall, Bouck's men were surrounded, out of ammunition, and taken prisoner.
They had inflicted nearly 100 casualties.
They lost only 1 man.

The most incredible part?
Their story was almost lost forever.
Because they were captured, their records disappeared in the chaos of war.
It took 37 years for the US military to correct history.
In 1981, Lyle Bouck received the Distinguished Service Cross.
His platoon became the most decorated unit of its size in all of World War II. πŸŽ—οΈ
