I had the privilege to spend a couple of days in Asheville, joining the relief efforts following the devastation from #Helene. What I saw and experienced was both heartbreaking and inspiring. It's one thing to see videos on X, and another to stand in the midst of it.
The damage in the community is almost unimaginable. Roads that were once busy with daily life are now shattered and flooded, making some areas inaccessible. Entire neighborhoods were reduced to rubble, with families forced to abandon homes, cars, and businesses that had been a part of their lives for decades.
I met Jon, whose living room was destroyed by a massive tree that came crashing down. As we cleared away debris and soaked sheetrock, he stood by in tears, overwhelmed by the loss.
Karen, who had just lost her uncle, was working double shifts to help cover the funeral costs, balancing grief and financial strain.
Pastor Mike, committed to his congregation, asked us to deliver essential items to a nearby elderly home that had been hit hard and was in desperate need of necessities.
But despite the overwhelming devastation, the resilience of the American spirit was on full display. Thousands of volunteers poured in from across the country, bringing tools, supplies, and sheer determination. Some faced bureaucratic challenges I won’t go into here, but that didn’t stop them. Many camped outside in parking lots, and used their tools and even helicopters to rescue stranded families. Many brought in dirt bikes and even horses to deliver insulin, diapers, and everything in between. They worked tirelessly, united by a shared mission to help rebuild and restore hope.
To everyone affected by the storm, you are in my thoughts and prayers. And to all the volunteers who showed up to lend a hand—thank you for reminding us of the power of community and compassion.
With Hurricane Milton set to hit West Coast Florida tomorrow, my heart goes out to those in its path. May we all continue to stand together, stronger than the storms that challenge us.

Inflation erodes your savings, but it doesn’t have to.
What strategies have you found effective in safeguarding your savings against inflation?
Some of my insights:
* Inflation decreases your money's purchasing power, making everything more expensive. For example, a 3% inflation rate means what costs $100 today will cost $103 next year. Over time, this significantly reduces your savings' value.
* Real estate is a strong hedge against inflation. Properties tend to appreciate over time, and rental income can increase with inflation, providing a steady cash flow. Investing in high-growth areas or REITs can maximize these benefits.
* Stocks of companies with strong pricing power can protect your wealth during inflation. Sectors like consumer staples, energy, and healthcare often perform well because they can pass on increased costs to consumers.

TURO - Car rental ✅
I've been wanting to dabble in car rentals for a while now and for several reasons, I finally took the leap.
30 days in, and it's been fairly interesting.
- Only about 5 bookings
- Avg booking 2 days
- Total income >$500
The app is pretty good and easy to use. You're pretty much helpless when it comes to controlling the traffic though.
